Attending regular dental check-ups (examinations) allows a dentist to see if you have any dental problems and will help you keep your mouth healthy. If you need any further treatment your dentist will advise you at this appointment.

At each dental check-up, you attend your dentist will…

  • Examine your mouth, gums and teeth
  • Ask you about your general health and lifestyle and whether you’ve had any previous problems with your mouth since your last visit.
  • Give you advice on your lifestyle i.e. your diet and ways to promote good oral hygiene.
  • Discuss with you an appropriate time for your next visit.

Your dentist will discuss with you during your appointment appropriate time to book your next appointment. This time will vary depending on your teeth, ranging from 3 months to about 2 years.
